The Boondocks is an American adult animated sitcom created by Aaron McGruder, first airing on Adult Swim in 2005 and adapted from his comic strip. Robert Freeman, known to Huey and Riley as Granddad and voiced by John Witherspoon, became one of the show's most quoted characters for his blunt, old school reactions. Short dialogue cuts like this pause line spread through meme edits and reaction videos, where a single shouted word from Granddad can summarise disbelief, frustration, or a need to stop and rewind what just happened.
About this sound
Granddad shouting pause from The Boondocks animated series, a short reaction clip creators use for awkward freezes, interruptions and comedic timing breaks.
This is the brief moment from The Boondocks where Granddad cuts in with a loud, exasperated pause, stopping the scene cold. His voice lands sharp and commanding, with that familiar annoyed delivery that makes a normal interruption feel much bigger than it is. The clip is only a few seconds long, but the sudden halt creates instant tension and comedy at the same time. Viewers recognise the tone immediately, like someone hitting a real life pause button during an argument, an embarrassing reveal, or a story that has just gone too far.
