About this sound

French meme sound based on the phrase 'un énorme trou' with a silly, distorted voice. Commonly used in humorous edits and reaction videos.

This clip features a short, pitched and slightly distorted voice saying the French phrase for an enormous hole. The delivery is flat and absurd, which makes the simple insult or observation land as a joke rather than a real comment. At under two seconds it hits fast and leaves room for a reaction shot or a sudden zoom. The humor comes from how seriously the line is pronounced compared to how ridiculous the situation usually is when creators drop it in.

Pro tip

Place the clip right on the reveal of a huge gap, a plot hole, or a character falling, and cut the music for half a second before it plays. Keep the original pitch — stretching it or adding reverb kills the deadpan timing that makes it funny.

How people use it

Dropping over a massive hole in a game map
Reacting to a huge plot hole in a movie
Punctuating a character falling into a pit
Adding to French meme edits for absurd emphasis

More information

Known online under the name Trouloris, this sound comes from the French phrase meaning an enormous hole. It circulated on French-speaking meme soundboards as a short reaction clip rather than from a specific film or show, and its appeal is the deadpan, distorted pronunciation. Creators keep reusing it because the line works literally for holes and falls, and figuratively for gaps in logic or missing content in edits. Similar short reaction clips like the bruh sound effect are often paired with it in meme compilations.
