Vuvuvu is Japanese onomatopoeia written in katakana as vu repeated, used in manga, captions and subtitles to represent a continuous low vibration or rumbling. Online, the written form became shorthand for a vibrating phone, a revving engine and rising pressure in a scene. As short sound effects began circulating on soundboards and in video edits, the audio version was clipped on its own and reused apart from any single series. Creators now drop it into anime edits, reaction videos and memes whenever a moment needs instant, recognisable suspense without music or dialogue.
