About this sound

A short Mandarin voice clip saying xia qu ba, meaning go down, used in memes and short video edits to dismiss someone or cut a scene abruptly.

Xia qu ba is a very short spoken clip in Mandarin, lasting under a second, in which a voice delivers the phrase with a firm, dismissive tone. The delivery is clipped and final, with no build-up or follow-through, so it lands like a door closing on a conversation. That abruptness is what makes it useful in edits: it can end a joke, reject an argument, or send a character off screen without needing any explanation. Listeners instantly understand the meaning from the tone alone, even if they do not speak Chinese, because the voice sounds impatient and completely done with the moment.

Pro tip

Drop it on the cut where a character is rejected or leaves the frame, and let it end the scene with no music underneath. Pair it with a quick zoom out, but do not loop it, because its punch comes from how abruptly it stops.

How people use it

Ending a skit when a character gets kicked out.
Rejecting a bad idea in a comedy edit.
Cutting away after a failed argument scene.
Dismissing an annoying character in a meme.

More information

The phrase xia qu ba translates literally as go down or get down, and in everyday Mandarin it is used to tell someone to step down or leave. Online, the short clip has circulated as a standalone soundboard sound for quick meme edits, where its blunt tone does the comic work without translation or context. Because it lasts less than a second, it fits easily into short videos, reaction edits and gaming clips, and it remains useful as a fast, universal way to dismiss a moment.
