This clip circulates as a short Bulgarian-language meme sound, with its appeal resting more on the strangeness of the question than on any widely documented backstory. Because no clear original scene is attached to the upload, creators tend to treat it as a flexible reaction line rather than a quote tied to a specific show or character. Online, that flexibility helps it travel across reaction edits, gaming clips, and short-form comedy, where a brief foreign-language question can feel funnier precisely because it is unexpected and left unexplained.
About this sound
A Bulgarian meme audio asking why not a fish, often dropped into reaction videos and edits as a confused punchline when a plan or explanation makes no sense.
This short clip centres on a spoken Bulgarian line that translates to why not a fish, delivered as a puzzled, deadpan question rather than a loud reaction. Its brevity is part of the joke, because the line lands, hangs for a moment, and leaves the listener waiting for an explanation that never arrives. That odd, out-of-context phrasing makes it easy to drop over a confusing choice, a strange object, or a plan that suddenly stops making sense. Instead of explaining the moment, it highlights the absurdity, giving viewers a shared beat of confusion before the video moves on.
