Robert Freeman is the grandfather at the centre of The Boondocks, the animated series created by Aaron McGruder that aired on Adult Swim from 2005 to 2014. Voiced by John Witherspoon, Freeman is known for his old-school, Southern-inflected speech, and thank ya kindly became one of his most quoted expressions of polite gratitude. Fans lifted the line onto soundboards and social video, where its slow, courteous delivery makes it an easy reaction to kindness, favours, and wholesome surprises.

Robert Freeman says thank ya kindly in this short clip from The Boondocks, a warm Southern-style thank you often used for polite replies and reaction memes.
In this brief clip, Robert Freeman, the gruff but loving grandfather from The Boondocks, delivers his signature line with a slow, warm drawl that turns a simple thank you into something old-fashioned and charming. His deep, slightly raspy voice lingers on each word, giving the phrase a polite, almost courtly feel that stands out against the show's sharper humour. It lands as a gentle punchline, softening a scene or rewarding a favour with unexpected manners, and listeners instantly recognise both the character and his folksy way of speaking.
