Kyoto appears on Skrillex's Bangarang EP, released in 2011, and features rapper and singer Sirah. The track became one of the defining examples of mainstream dubstep in the early 2010s, when Skrillex's aggressive production moved the genre from clubs into gaming videos, trailers and early YouTube edits. Short drop excerpts like this one later circulated widely on soundboards and in meme edits, reused whenever a creator needed instant intensity. Its chopped vocals and mechanical bass remain closely associated with that period of internet edit culture.
