The Steamed Hams segment comes from The Simpsons episode 22 Short Films About Springfield, first broadcast in 1996, in which Principal Skinner invites Superintendent Chalmers to lunch and tries to hide a ruined roast. The doorbell opens the scene and sets up the escalating lies that follow. Years later, the sketch became one of the show's most remixed moments online, with fans re-editing, redubbing and recreating it in countless styles. Its quotable dialogue and escalating absurdity keep it circulating in memes, reaction edits and short videos.

The Steamed Hams doorbell scene from The Simpsons, with Chalmers arriving at Skinner's house. A meme clip for awkward visits and unexpected guests.
This clip captures the moment the doorbell rings at Principal Skinner's house in the famous Steamed Hams sketch, followed by Superintendent Chalmers announcing his arrival despite Skinner's directions. The chime is bright and domestic, then Chalmers' dry, authoritative voice cuts through the tension, instantly signalling that something is about to go wrong. For viewers who know the scene, it triggers the whole joke in a few seconds: the desperate cover-up, the burnt roast, and the absurd excuse about steamed hams. Even without context, the polite greeting feels funny and tense, perfect for edits where someone arrives at exactly the wrong time.
