Baba Booey began on The Howard Stern Show as the nickname for producer Gary Dell'Abate, after he mispronounced the cartoon character Baba Looey. Stern and listeners adopted the name, and fans began shouting it on prank calls, live broadcasts and later at public sporting events. As clips moved online, the shout separated from the show and became a standalone meme sound, shared on soundboards and in edited videos wherever a random, recognisable interruption was funnier than a normal reaction or punchline.

Baba Booey is a short shouted catchphrase from The Howard Stern Show, used as a meme sound effect for pranks, reactions and sudden interruptions.
The clip is a loud, fast shout of the words Baba Booey delivered in a single burst lasting less than a second. The voice is energetic and slightly distorted, cutting in abruptly with no music or background noise behind it. Because it arrives without context, it works like a verbal jump scare, breaking a serious or quiet moment with something completely absurd. Viewers recognise it instantly as an inside joke, so the shout often gets a laugh even before anyone explains it, and its brevity makes it easy to replay or layer over a reaction.
