Elmo's World was a recurring segment on Sesame Street, first appearing in 1998 and presented through the eyes of Elmo, the red monster puppet. Each edition explored one everyday subject with songs, drawings and questions, and its short sung title became one of the show's most recognisable cues. As clips from children's television moved onto video sharing and soundboard sites, the sting was reused outside its original context as a nostalgic shorthand for innocence, curiosity and a topic being introduced in the simplest possible way.
