Pickle Rick comes from Rick and Morty, the animated series created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, in the season three episode Pickle Rick, first aired in 2017. In the story, Rick Sanchez turns himself into a pickle to avoid family therapy, then has to fight his way out of a sewer and a secure facility. The image and the line became instant meme material, spreading through clips, reaction videos and edits that reuse the transformation as shorthand for a plan going gloriously wrong. It endures because the premise is instantly visual and endlessly remixable.

Rick Sanchez declares he turned himself into a pickle in this Rick and Morty clip, often used for absurd transformation memes and confident reaction edits.
This is the moment Rick Sanchez reveals his latest experiment has turned him into a pickle, delivered in his dry, self-satisfied voice with the show's trademark mix of genius and absurdity. The line lands as a proud declaration rather than a cry for help, which is why it instantly reads as funny even out of context. Hearing it triggers recognition for Rick and Morty fans and confusion-turned-laughter for everyone else, as the deadpan confidence clashes with the ridiculous image of a talking pickle. It works as a punchline on its own, needing no setup, and it sets up any joke about a situation spiraling into something completely unhinged.
