The clip comes from a New Year gaming night stream by Taiwanese VTuber Caren, whose full stream title describes an afternoon session bringing several VTubers together for the holiday. The short hum was lifted from that longer broadcast and shared as a standalone soundboard clip, where it is now used far beyond its original context. It has not become a mainstream meme, but it survives as a small, recognisable VTuber reaction sound, valued by fans and editors who want a gentle, human pause rather than a loud, overused effect.

A soft mmmm hum from VTuber Caren, clipped from a New Year gaming stream. Creators use it for awkward pauses, thinking moments and cute reaction edits.
This is a short, soft hum from Taiwanese VTuber Caren, a gentle mmmm that rises slightly and trails off like she is thinking, agreeing, or holding back a laugh. It lasts just over a second and a half, with a warm, close-mic vocal tone and no background music or other voices to distract from it. The clip feels intimate and playful, like catching a streamer mid-thought during a relaxed gaming session with friends. Because it is so understated, it lands as a cute, relatable reaction rather than a loud punchline, making viewers smile at the hesitation itself.
