The Didj was LeapFrog's 2008 handheld for older children, built around swappable cartridges and downloadable customisation for games focused on maths, spelling and reading. Its interface sounds were deliberately simple, short electronic tones that could play instantly without slowing navigation. This button blip survived online because former owners ripped and shared the system sounds, and editors kept reusing it as a generic handheld click, similar to a ding sound effect for confirmations. It now appears in nostalgia posts, fake game menus and retro tech compilations long after the console was discontinued.
