Ghost chain sounds have long been shorthand for hauntings in horror, because chains suggest imprisonment, punishment, and something that cannot rest. Online, short rattling chain clips like this one are shared as standalone sound effects for creators who need instant atmosphere without dialogue or music. They appear in Halloween edits, spooky reaction videos, haunted house tours, and horror game streams, where a familiar metallic rattle tells viewers something supernatural is near. Their simplicity keeps them useful year after year, especially around Halloween.

A spooky ghost chain rattling sound effect with clanking metal links, used in horror edits and Halloween videos to add a haunted, eerie atmosphere.
This eight-second clip captures the cold, metallic rattle of heavy chains being dragged and shaken, with sharp clinks and a hollow, echoing scrape that feels like something unseen is moving just out of sight. The sound builds slowly, letting each link strike the next, which makes it feel tense and unsettling rather than loud or sudden. Listeners immediately picture a haunted house, a dungeon, or a ghost dragging its chains through a dark corridor. That creeping dread is what makes it so effective in horror edits, where a few seconds of chain noise can turn a quiet scene into something genuinely unnerving.
