JonTron is the online persona of Jon Jafari, a YouTuber known for comedic, fast-cut reviews of retro and badly made games on the JonTronShow channel. Short voice clips from those reviews have long circulated as reaction sounds, and this 'but why' line became a favorite because it sums up his exasperated persona in two words. Shared through YouTube edits, streams and soundboards, it moved beyond gaming into general meme use whenever someone needs a quick, deadpan way to question a strange choice.

JonTron's confused 'but why' reaction from his game review videos, used as a sound effect for baffling moments, bad takes and pointless decisions online.
This is JonTron delivering his bewildered line 'but why' in that flat, incredulous tone he uses when a game makes no sense at all. The clip is short and dry, just his voice dropping the question with a pause that lets the confusion land. It works because it is not shouted or exaggerated, it sounds like genuine disbelief. Viewers instantly read it as a reaction to something pointless or badly designed, and dropping it over a clip turns a mild mistake into a moment of total bafflement.
