Antonio Vivaldi composed The Four Seasons around 1723 and published the set in 1725 in Amsterdam as part of Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione. The work is four violin concertos, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, each evoking weather, birdsong and seasonal scenes in music. It became Vivaldi's most famous work and one of the most recorded pieces in classical music. Clips circulate widely in films, adverts, and social edits, where a few seconds of strings instantly communicate class, urgency or a seasonal change.
