Light Yagami is the protagonist of Death Note, the manga and anime series in which a brilliant student uses a supernatural notebook to kill criminals as Kira. His maniacal laugh became one of the show's most recognisable moments, often shared in clips of his confrontations with L and his descent into god-complex villainy. As Death Note stayed popular through streaming and anime meme culture, the laugh spread across TikTok, YouTube edits and reaction videos, where it now works as instant shorthand for a villain who believes he has already won.

Light Yagami's manic laugh from Death Note, a chilling cackle as his plan unfolds. Creators use it for villain reveals, evil plans and dramatic anime edits.
This is Light Yagami's unhinged laugh from Death Note, captured as he revels in outsmarting his enemies and tightening his grip as Kira. It starts as a low, controlled chuckle before swelling into a loud, echoing cackle that sounds triumphant, deranged and dangerously confident all at once. The laugh lingers just long enough to feel unsettling, turning a simple reveal into a moment of pure villainy. For viewers who know the series, it instantly signals that Light has already won, and that everyone else is several steps behind him.
