The sound comes from the Samsung SGH-D347, where it played each time the handset was switched on. Like many classic phone start-up tones, it later circulated online as a short downloadable clip on soundboard sites, where listeners saved it for edits, memes and ringtone-style jokes rather than for use on the original phone. Its appeal has lasted because the melody is short, clean and tied to a specific era of mobile phones, making it an easy audio shorthand for old technology, flip phones and early Samsung devices in videos today.

The classic startup chime from the Samsung SGH-D347 mobile phone, a short nostalgic jingle used in retro tech videos, memes and edits about old phones.
The Old Samsung Startup sound is the brief power-on jingle from the Samsung SGH-D347, a mobile phone from the era of flip phones and colour screens. It opens with a few clean, synthesized notes that rise gently before resolving into a short melody, lasting only a few seconds but instantly recognisable to anyone who owned a Samsung handset at the time. The tone is bright and optimistic rather than dramatic, with a futuristic feel that suited a new device switching on. For listeners today it works as a burst of nostalgia, signalling an old phone, a simpler time in mobile technology, and the ritual of turning a handset on.
