Roller derby is a fast, full-contact team sport played on skates, and penalty calls are a familiar part of its officiating, with referees using whistles and hand signals to stop play and send skaters to the penalty box. Short clips of those calls have circulated online as soundboard sounds because they are instantly recognisable, even to people who do not follow the sport. Creators keep using this one as a quick, authoritative punch for fouls and rule breaks in sports edits, reaction videos and comedy clips.

The roller derby penalty call, a sharp whistle followed by the referee's signal, used by editors and fans to call out a foul, a bad play or a rule break.
The clip captures the moment a roller derby referee calls a penalty, opening with a hard, piercing whistle that cuts straight through the noise of the bout before the official's voice follows with the call itself. It is brief, urgent and unmistakably official, the kind of sound that instantly stops the action and tells everyone something has gone wrong. Played over a video, it adds instant authority and drama, making a foul, a trip or a cheeky rule break feel like a real on-track decision rather than just a joke.
