Phasmophobia is a co-operative ghost hunting game by Kinetic Games, first released in early access in 2020. The Monkey Paw is one of its cursed possessions, found on haunted locations and able to grant spoken wishes, each one curling a finger and triggering a negative consequence for the team. Clips of players testing risky wishes spread widely on Twitch and YouTube, and the short curl snap became a recognisable shorthand online for a wish granted at a cost, separate from full gameplay.

The Phasmophobia monkey paw curl sound from the horror game, when a finger snaps down after a wish. Used for cursed wishes and spooky meme edits.
This is the short, dry cracking sound the Monkey Paw makes in Phasmophobia when one of its fingers curls down after a wish is spoken. It is a close, bony snap with a slight wooden creak, lasting just over a second and ending abruptly. In game it signals that the wish has been accepted and a price will follow. Out of game the clip works as an instant warning sign, a tiny sound that tells viewers something powerful just happened and it is about to go badly wrong.
