There is no documented original source for this short auuu clip, which appears to come from a user-generated soundboard upload. Howl sounds like this circulate widely because they are simple, instantly readable and easy to drop into edits. Creators reach for them for wolf jokes, full-moon gags, sports chants and exaggerated reaction memes on short-form video platforms. Its continued use comes down to versatility: the same wail can sound triumphant, mournful or ridiculous depending on the visual it lands on.

A 3 second drawn-out auuu howl, half human holler and half wolf cry. Streamers and meme editors use it for funny fails, dramatic reveals and wolf moments.
The clip is a single sustained auuuu wail that rises quickly and holds for about three and a half seconds before tapering off. It sits between a human howl and a cartoon wolf cry, loud and slightly wavering, with a playful rather than scary tone. The length gives it a dramatic arc, building anticipation as it peaks. For a viewer it reads instantly as exaggerated longing or mock drama, which is why it lands as comedy rather than horror, turning an ordinary moment into something theatrically over the top.
