The laugh comes from Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning, a 2018 indie horror game by Micah McGonigal of Basically Games that parodies 1990s educational software. Baldi, the tall teacher who chases the player through a school collecting notebooks, became a viral figure through YouTube playthroughs, fan games and remixes. His short voice clips, recorded in a deliberately odd tone, spread as reaction sounds beyond the game itself. The laugh endures because it captures that mix of classroom nostalgia, absurd comedy and sudden menace in one second.

Baldi's laugh is a short teacher cackle from a 2018 horror parody game, used in jumpscare memes, gameplay edits and playful classroom reaction videos.
Baldi's laugh is a brief, unsettling cackle from the teacher character in Baldi's Basics, delivered in a flat, slightly distorted voice that sounds both cheerful and threatening. The clip lasts just over a second, with a rising chuckle that cuts off abruptly, which makes it feel like a warning rather than genuine amusement. Played over a quiet scene it instantly signals that something has gone wrong in class, turning an ordinary moment into a tense, darkly comic beat that viewers recognise from countless horror game videos and edits online today.
