They Live is a 1988 science fiction film directed by John Carpenter, starring wrestler Roddy Piper as drifter John Nada. His bubblegum line appears during a bank confrontation and was partly improvised by Piper from a list of one-liners he kept for wrestling promos. The quote spread far beyond the film through wrestling culture, action movie references and later video games and memes, where it is still quoted and parodied as shorthand for someone arriving ready for trouble.
