Butt-Head is one half of the duo at the center of Beavis and Butt-Head, the MTV animated series that brought the characters to a wide audience in the 1990s. The show's deadpan, teenage humor made Butt-Head an easy shorthand for sarcasm and bad ideas, and short character clips later found a second life on soundboards and in short-form video edits. Creators keep returning to the sound because it is instantly familiar, needs no explanation and delivers attitude in just a couple of seconds.
