The exact origin of this clip is unknown, but fart sounds are some of the oldest running gags on meme soundboards, carried over from whoopee cushions and cartoon sound effects into the internet era. Short, punchy potty-humor clips like this one circulate on user-uploaded boards because they slot into almost any edit. This particular recording shares shelf space with fellow gross-out staples such as the fart with reverb effect, and it keeps showing up in prank videos, gaming fails and reaction edits precisely because the joke never needs explaining.

An exaggerated fart sound effect with a deep, cartoonish rip. Creators drop it into prank videos, fail clips and reaction edits for an instant gross-out gag.
Extreme Fart is a fraction-of-a-second clip of one huge, over-the-top fart: a deep, guttural rip with a cartoonish punch at the end. It lasts barely half a second, but the sound is mixed to feel enormous, like a bass-heavy whoopee cushion going off right next to the microphone. Dropped into an edit, it lands as pure shock comedy. Viewers flinch, then laugh, and the sheer silliness of the noise makes it impossible to take seriously, which is exactly why creators keep reaching for it.
