Jevil first appeared in Deltarune Chapter 1, released in 2018 by Toby Fox, as an optional secret boss hidden in Card Kingdom. Once the court jester for the Card Kings, he was locked away after his worldview turned nihilistic and chaotic, and his battle is famous for wild attacks and his line about being able to do anything. Clips of his voice later spread through Undertale and Deltarune fan edits, gaming videos and soundboards, where the short manic delivery became shorthand for unpredictable, jester-like energy.
