The clip is catalogued as a vampiric scream from the Priest movie sounds, listed in its long version as Beast Vile Long. Priest is a post-apocalyptic action horror film centred on a war between humans and vampires, which explains the inhuman, feral quality of the cry. Long monster screams like this circulated through sound effect libraries and soundboards for horror editing, then found a second life in meme jumpscares and Halloween videos where a drawn-out shriek is funnier and scarier than a short one.

A long vampiric scream sound effect from the Priest movie, featuring a shrill beast-like shriek used for horror jumpscares, monster reveals and Halloween edits.
This is a long, drawn-out vampiric scream that starts with a sharp inhale and erupts into a high, rasping shriek layered with a guttural animal growl underneath. The pitch wavers and sustains for several seconds, sounding less like a human voice and more like a feral creature in pain or rage. Because it does not cut off quickly, the tension keeps building instead of releasing, making the moment feel dangerous and unhinged. Listeners tend to freeze or recoil, which is why the clip works so well when a calm scene suddenly turns monstrous.
