Light Yagami is the central character of Death Note, the manga series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata that became a hugely popular anime in 2006. His laugh, delivered by Mamoru Miyano in the Japanese version, became one of the show's most quoted moments because it marks the point where Light's calm genius tips into open arrogance. Clips of the laugh spread through anime edits, reaction videos and meme compilations, where it is now used as shorthand for a villain finally showing his true nature.

Light Yagami's cold, confident laugh from Death Note, heard as his plan falls into place. Creators use it for villain reveals, plot twists and ironic victories.
This clip captures Light Yagami's infamous laugh from Death Note, a performance that begins as a low, controlled chuckle and escalates into a sharp, manic cackle. His voice rises and breaks with arrogant delight, carrying the cold confidence of a character convinced he is untouchable and several steps ahead of everyone else. Played over a reveal or twist, it instantly reframes an ordinary moment as something sinister, funny and slightly unhinged, letting viewers feel both the joke and the menace. It works because the laughter sounds genuinely unhinged rather than cartoonish, making triumph feel dangerous instead of simply celebratory.
