Mater is the rusty tow truck from Pixar's Cars, first released in 2006 and voiced by Larry the Cable Guy as the best friend of Lightning McQueen. Clips of his scenes are widely reused online because his loyal, good natured personality makes any call for his help feel warm as well as comic. This line has been lifted onto soundboards and into short edits, where it survives as a shorthand for being stranded, overwhelmed, or in over your head and needing rescue from a reliable friend.

This Cars movie clip has a character urgently calling Mater for help, and creators use it as a funny sound effect when someone needs backup fast.
This clip captures a panicked call for Mater, the friendly tow truck from Cars, with the line 'Mater, I need your help' delivered in an urgent, pleading tone. The voice rises with stress, making the request sound both desperate and funny rather than truly serious. At just under ten seconds, there is enough build up for viewers to recognise the situation before the punchline lands. It works because everyone knows that feeling of being stuck and needing a friend to bail them out, which turns a simple movie line into an instantly relatable reaction sound.
