Windows Media Center was Microsoft's entertainment hub for Windows, first released with Windows XP Media Center Edition in 2002 and later included with premium editions of Vista and Windows 7. It let users watch TV, play music and browse photos with a remote friendly interface. Its default system sounds became familiar through daily use at home, and clips of them later circulated on soundboards and in videos as a shorthand for old PC nostalgia, long after Media Center was discontinued in Windows 10.
