Nyan Cat began in April 2011 when YouTube user saraj00n combined daniwellP song Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya, sung by Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, with a pixel animation by prguitarman of a cat with a Pop Tart body flying through space. The video went viral that year, spawning remixes, games, merchandise and endless reuploads across social media. Its simple loop and rainbow visual became shorthand for early 2010s meme culture, and creators still reuse the audio for retro, kawaii and absurd humor because it is instantly recognizable within seconds.

The Nyan Cat meme song with its looping nyan chant and upbeat chiptune melody, used in videos, edits and remixes for cheerful retro internet humor.
This is the looping audio from Nyan Cat, built around a bright Japanese pop vocal chanting nyan over and over over a fast, bouncy chiptune beat. The melody never really develops or drops, it just circles with relentless energy while the high pitched vocal stays cheerful and slightly absurd. Paired in the original with a pixel cat flying through space leaving a rainbow trail, the sound instantly signals silly, nostalgic internet joy. Even without the animation, hearing those first few seconds makes a scene feel hyperactive, cute and deliberately over the top.
