Retek retek retek circulates online as a short viral meme clip with no clear credited source, shared mainly for the way the repeated word takes over a video. It spread through soundboards and short form edits where creators reuse the same few seconds to signal random humour, trolling, or deliberate overkill. Because the phrase is meaningless to most listeners, the joke does not rely on understanding it, only on how long it keeps going. That simplicity has kept it in rotation as a filler sound for reaction posts, edits, and chat spam.

A looping clip of a voice chanting retek retek retek over and over, used as a random meme sound effect for absurd, hypnotic and spammy edits.
Retek retek retek is a ten second loop built around a single word repeated in a flat, insistent rhythm until it stops sounding like language and becomes pure noise. The chant keeps the same pace and pitch, which makes it feel both hypnotic and slightly annoying in a deliberate, comic way. There is no build up or payoff, just relentless repetition that fills the whole clip. Viewers hear it as the audio equivalent of spam, something dropped into a video to derail the moment, confuse everyone, and make a normal scene feel absurd for no clear reason at all.
