The thhhheeeee clip circulates as a short jumpscare sound on user-generated soundboards, where its entire appeal is the exaggerated stretch of a single word. Listeners share it without a clear source attached, and its existing description repeats jumpscare over and over, signalling exactly how creators are meant to deploy it. Online, it functions less as a traditional instant scream and more as a drawn-out warning that something scary or silly is coming, which is why it fits horror edits, fake trailers and reaction posts alike.

A long, stretched-out 'theeeee' jumpscare sound that builds tension before a sudden scare. Creators use it for horror edits, pranks and reaction memes.
This sound is a drawn-out vocalisation that stretches the word the into a long, wobbling theeeee lasting several seconds. It starts almost conversationally, then holds and drags until the familiarity turns uneasy and a little absurd. Paired with the jumpscare description it is used with, the extended delivery creates a slow build rather than an instant hit, letting tension sit uncomfortably before a cut or reveal. The humour comes from that delay, as listeners wait for something to happen while the sound refuses to resolve, making the eventual scare or punchline land harder.
