Bazooka sounds have long been a staple of action movies, cartoons and video games, where the oversized rocket launcher is shorthand for excessive force. Online, short clips of the blast have been reused as a reaction sound because the noise is instantly recognisable even without any picture, and its seven-second length makes it easy to drop into edits, streams and short videos. It survives because it needs no context: one loud explosion tells the audience that something has gone far beyond reasonable, and that exaggeration is the joke itself.
