The classic Imagine Breaker sound effect from A Certain Magical Index, used before Index III, for cancelling powers and dramatic anime edits.

The Imagine Breaker effect is the sharp, cracking burst heard when Touma Kamijou's right hand cancels a supernatural power in A Certain Magical Index. It lands as a sudden, brittle shatter layered over a low impact, as if something invisible is being broken apart in an instant. Because the sound is so abrupt, it makes the moment feel final and absolute, turning a flashy attack into nothing in a split second. Viewers recognise it immediately as the signal that magic, esper abilities, and other impossible forces simply stop working.

Profi-Tipp

Drop it exactly on the frame where the attack touches Touma's hand, then cut all other sound for a beat so the shatter stands alone. Pair it with a flash or screen shake, but do not loop it, since repeating the cancellation kills its finality.

So wird er verwendet

Creators use it when an overpowered attack suddenly gets negated.
Editors add it to anime power-scaling and versus debates.
It punctuates a character cancelling magic in fan edits.
Streamers play it after shutting down an opponent's ultimate.

Weitere Informationen

Imagine Breaker comes from A Certain Magical Index, the long-running anime and light novel series centred on Touma Kamijou, whose right hand can negate supernatural powers. This older version of the effect was heard in the series before A Certain Magical Index III, and fans later separated it from the newer sound because they preferred its earlier impact. It has since circulated widely in anime edits, reaction videos, and soundboard collections, where it remains a shorthand for an unstoppable power suddenly being switched off.

FAQ

What is the Imagine Breaker sound effect?

It is the sound heard when Touma Kamijou's Imagine Breaker cancels a supernatural power in A Certain Magical Index, a sharp shattering burst that signals magic or esper abilities being negated instantly.

What is the difference between the old and new Imagine Breaker sound?

The old version was used before A Certain Magical Index III, while later episodes use a different effect. Fans often prefer the earlier version for its sharper impact, so it is still shared separately in edits and soundboard collections.

How do creators use the Imagine Breaker sound in videos?
