The ba dum tss is a long-standing comedy drum pattern rather than a line from a single show or film, traditionally played by a drummer to mark the end of a joke. It moved from stage and television comedy into online video, where short soundboard clips made it easy to drop into edits, streams and reaction videos. Its staying power comes from instant recognition: even without any words, listeners know a joke has just been told, which is why creators still reach for it for puns, dad jokes and intentionally bad punchlines.
À propos de ce son
The ba dum tss drum rimshot played after a punchline, with a snare hit and crashing cymbal. Creators use it to punctuate jokes and awkward moments in videos.
The ba dum tss is a short comedy drum sting built from a quick snare roll followed by a sharp cymbal crash, the sound a live band uses to underline a joke that has just landed or deliberately fallen flat. In this clip the hits are tight and punchy, with a dry snare snap that builds for a beat before the cymbal rings out and fades. It instantly signals to a viewer that a punchline has arrived, turning a plain line into a joke and giving the audience a cue to laugh, groan or react.
