Ao Oni is a Japanese indie horror game first released in 2008, in which a group of friends explore a mansion while being chased by a tall blue creature known as the Oni. Mika is one of those friends, and her scream has been lifted from gameplay and shared as a standalone clip on soundboards and in short videos. Because it is short, recognisable to horror fans and easy to drop over a scare, it continues to appear in gameplay reactions, Halloween edits and meme compilations long after the original game.

Mika's terrified scream from the horror game Ao Oni, a short sharp cry used in scary edits, jumpscare reactions and horror game montages.
This is a brief, high-pitched scream from Mika in Ao Oni, the Japanese indie horror game where players flee a tall blue demon through an empty mansion. The cry is sudden and strained, rising quickly before cutting off, with no music or dialogue around it, which makes it feel raw and panicked. Played on its own it creates an instant jolt, like a character has just turned a corner and found something waiting there, and in edits it works as a punchline for fear, surprise or a failed escape attempt.
