Over dit geluid

This four-second clip captures Illidan Stormrage delivering his line 'You are not prepared' in a deep, menacing voice, with a pause that lets the threat land before the final words. It feels tense and ominous, like a warning issued just before an overwhelming confrontation begins. The line comes from Blizzard's Warcraft universe and became widely known through World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade in 2007.

Pro-tip

Wait for the full warning to finish before you show the boss, the fail, or the reveal, because the line only works when the threat lands first and the payoff follows immediately after it.

Goed om te weten

Place this clip at the start of a boss intro or raid montage, just before the action begins, then follow it with the Inception Horn for scale and the Danger Alarm as the fight starts. Use Enemy Spotted beforehand only if you are building up to a confrontation.

Veelgestelde vragen

Can I set the Illidan warning as my ringtone?

Yes, save the MP3 to your phone and choose it in your sound settings as your ringtone. It works well for calls from gaming friends because the warning is short and instantly recognisable.

Does the Illidan warning work for people who have never played Warcraft?

Yes, the dramatic warning and the idea of being unprepared are clear even without knowing Illidan or the game. Gamers will recognise it instantly, while others will still understand it as a boss-style threat before a reveal.

What should I pair with the Illidan warning in a boss intro?

Pair it with a deep horn or alarm after the line finishes, so the warning sets up the threat and the second sound marks the fight beginning. Keep the Illidan line first.
