Blocky is a contestant in Battle for Dream Island, the animated object show created by jacknjellify that launched on YouTube in 2010. The character returned across later seasons Battle for BFDI and The Power of Two, where his prankster personality and sharp voice made his reactions easy to clip. Fans began isolating his screams for edits and soundboards as BFDI clips spread through meme communities. The alternate take circulates separately from the main scream because its timing and pitch hit slightly differently in edits.

Blocky screaming sound effect from BFDI, BFB and TPOT, a short high pitched scream used in object show edits, memes and reaction videos online.
This is the alternate version of Blocky's scream from the Battle for Dream Island series, a loud, stretched out yell from the red block character. The voice spikes in pitch and cuts off abruptly after less than two seconds, which makes it feel both panicked and cartoonish. It does not sound scary so much as exaggerated, like a character reacting to sudden danger, pain or a ridiculous fail. That over the top delivery is why editors love it, because the scream instantly signals chaos and turns an ordinary animated moment into a joke.
