The wah sound comes from Ninomae Ina'nis, a virtual YouTuber from Hololive English who debuted in 2020 and built a huge following with her calm art streams and deadpan humor. Her playful wah exclamation became one of her signature running gags, clipped by fans into countless compilations and TikTok edits. Like other short startled anime vocal memes such as anime ahh and Anime ahhhh, it spread because it is instantly quotable and fits any small shock. It remains a staple reaction sound in Hololive fan edits and anime meme videos.

Ninomae Ina'nis lets out her signature high-pitched 'wah' gasp in this short clip. Hololive fans use it for funny reactions, surprise moments and meme edits.
This is the tiny, startled gasp that Ninomae Ina'nis makes when she is caught off guard, a single breathy wah that lands somewhere between a squeak and a pout. It lasts less than a second, pitched high and slightly wobbly, with her soft cartoonish delivery that sounds equal parts flustered and endearing. The clip has no music or background noise, just the raw vocal pop, which makes it cut cleanly through any edit. Hearing it instantly reads as a comically dramatic overreaction to something small.
