Kumonga is a giant spider kaiju created by Toho, first appearing in Son of Godzilla in 1967, where it threatened Godzilla and Minilla on Sollgel Island. Also known as Spiga in some versions, the creature became a recurring part of the Godzilla universe, returning in later films including Destroy All Monsters and Final Wars. Clips of its roar circulate among kaiju fans online, shared in monster rankings, fan edits and soundboards, keeping the character popular decades after its debut.

Kumonga roar sound effect from the Godzilla films, featuring the giant spider kaiju's screech. Creators use it for monster reveals and kaiju edits.
This clip captures Kumonga's distinctive monster cry, a harsh, chittering screech layered over a low rumble that lasts just over four seconds. The sound rises sharply, sounding insect-like and threatening rather than like a typical dinosaur roar, which fits the giant spider's ambush style. It builds tension quickly, making a scene feel dangerous before anything appears on screen. Listeners familiar with classic kaiju films recognise the vintage, slightly distorted recording quality, giving the roar an old-school creature-feature feel that stands out in modern edits and monster compilations.
