APT. was released in October 2024 by Rosé and Bruno Mars, built around the Korean drinking-game chant apateu, short for apartment, that players shout while stacking hands. The song became a global pop hit and a TikTok sound, with its chant easy to recognise even in a few seconds. Fans then made louder, distorted edits, sometimes labelled ear rape versions, that exaggerate the hook for comedy rather than listening. Those edits spread through meme pages and soundboards, where the chant is now used as a sudden punchline instead of a song excerpt.
About this sound
A loud, distorted clip of the APT apateu chant from Rosé and Bruno Mars' hit song, used as a sudden, high-energy punchline in memes and short edits.
The clip takes the catchy apateu chant from APT. and pushes it to maximum volume, with heavy distortion, clipping and a harsh, blown-out edge that makes the familiar hook feel aggressive and absurd. Lasting just a few seconds, it opens with the chant already at full blast, so there is no build-up, only an instant jolt that grabs attention and breaks the mood of whatever came before it. Listeners recognise the melody at once, but the exaggerated loudness turns a playful pop hook into a joke in itself, making it ideal for a jump-scare reaction, a failed attempt, or a moment meant to feel chaotic and over the top.
