About this sound

The deadpan cartoon voice announces 'This is a robbery' in the style of TomSka's Asdfmovie sketches, perfect for prank edits, heist jokes and meme videos.

This short clip captures a flat, matter-of-fact cartoon voice declaring a robbery, in the abrupt, deadpan humour that defines Asdfmovie. There is no shouting, no dramatic music and no build-up, just the line delivered as if it were completely ordinary, which is exactly what makes it funny. The voice sounds deliberately simple and cartoonish, with a quick, clipped delivery that lands instantly and leaves room for a visual punchline. Dropped over a scene of someone stealing snacks, grabbing a controller or walking off with a friend's phone, it turns an everyday moment into a mock heist and signals to viewers that the joke is intentionally silly rather than serious.

Pro tip

Place the line right before the reveal, not over it, so the theft lands as the punchline. Cut to the stolen item immediately afterwards and keep background music low, because the flat delivery does the comedy work and extra sound effects will blunt it.

How people use it

A friend steals snacks from the kitchen cupboard.
Someone grabs the TV remote during movie night.
A player steals a kill in a gaming clip.
A pet snatches food off the table.

More information

Asdfmovie is a long-running YouTube animated sketch series by TomSka, built around very short, surreal jokes delivered in a simple cartoon style. Lines from the series are widely clipped and reused online because they are instantly recognisable even out of context, and this robbery line is a good example: it needs no setup to be understood. It continues to appear in TikTok edits, gaming videos and prank compilations, where creators use its deadpan tone to frame an ordinary theft as a miniature heist.
