About this sound

A long cartoon crying wail from the Spanish Balltube.exe meme, taken from the Castigado clip. Creators play it over funny punishment and fail moments in edits.

This is a three-second cartoon crying sound built around one long wailing 'waaaa' that rises, wobbles and trails off like an exaggerated tantrum. The voice sounds close-mic and theatrical, with a shaky vibrato that makes the sadness feel deliberately overplayed rather than real. It comes from the Spanish-language Balltube.exe meme and the Castigado bit, where the character is being punished. Dropped into an edit, it instantly frames whoever is on screen as the loser of the moment, turning a small fail into a melodramatic joke that viewers read as playful mockery.

Pro tip

Trigger the wail right on the frame where the punishment lands, not during the buildup, and duck your background music underneath it. Pair it with a zoom on the victim's face. Avoid looping it twice in a row, since the long vibrato gets grating fast.

How people use it

Punishing a friend's character after losing a game.
Mocking a failed challenge attempt in a compilation.
Captioning a pet caught misbehaving on camera.
Ending a skit where the villain gets caught.

More information

The clip comes from the Spanish-language Balltube.exe meme, tied to the 'Castigado' bit where the character is punished and breaks into a theatrical cry. The 'waaaa' take was uploaded to soundboards by users such as A Voz da Zueira and passed around in Spanish meme edits rather than through any official release. Like other fail meme sounds, it survives because the punishment setup is endlessly reusable: anyone caught, grounded or defeated gets the same wail. No original episode or studio source is documented for this recording.
