The song comes from Despicable Me 2, released in 2013, where the Minions perform their version of the Beach Boys hit Barbara Ann, replacing most of the lyrics with banana and other Minion gibberish. The scene became a favourite with younger viewers and quickly spread beyond the film through YouTube clips, sing-along videos and short edits. Its simple hook, recognisable melody and cheerful nonsense made it easy to reuse in memes, birthday videos and family content, and it remains a popular choice whenever creators want an instantly familiar burst of Minion humour.
About this sound
The Minions sing their playful banana song from Despicable Me 2, with gibberish vocals and a catchy tune. Fans use it for funny edits, kids videos and memes.
The Banana Minions Song is the cheerful, gibberish-filled tune the little yellow Minions sing in Despicable Me 2, turning the classic pop melody of Barbara Ann into a silly chant built almost entirely around the word banana. Their high-pitched voices bounce along to a bouncy rhythm, with playful grunts, giggles and off-key harmonies that make it instantly recognisable even without understanding a word. It sounds joyful, chaotic and deliberately childish, and it usually makes listeners smile within the first few seconds, which is why it works so well as a short burst of pure cartoon energy in videos and edits.
