The clip comes from asdfmovie14, part of TomSka's long-running asdfmovie animated sketch series on YouTube known for rapid jokes and abrupt endings. This sketch follows that format, setting up Broccoli Sockoli like a recurring character worth checking in on, then ending the bit immediately with a deadpan death announcement. Clips from the series are frequently cut into soundboard posts and short edits because each line works without visual context. Its popularity comes from that reusable contrast between an upbeat question and a completely flat, unexpected answer.
About this sound
Broccoli Sockoli sound effect from asdfmovie14, where the excited build-up ends with the deadpan line he's dead, used for anticlimax meme edits.
This six-second clip opens with a cheerful voice riffing Broccoli, Sockoli, then asking with rising curiosity what he is doing today. The energy builds like a playful roll call, expecting a silly or heroic reveal. Instead a second flat voice cuts in with the blunt answer that he is dead. The joke lands in the sudden drop from bouncy anticipation to total anticlimax, turning an innocent check-in into a dark one-liner. It works as a quick punchline for edits where excitement needs to collapse instantly into awkward silence and disappointment.
