About this sound

A short buuuue gagging sound effect of someone retching in disgust, used as a reaction for gross, cringe or nauseating moments in memes and videos.

Buuuue is a drawn-out vocal gag that imitates the moment just before vomiting, with a rising groan that slides into a disgusted retch. The voice stretches the sound, making it feel both sick and theatrical rather than realistic. It lasts less than a second but lands instantly, telling the viewer that something is revolting without needing a reaction face or caption. Editors use that exaggerated nausea to puncture a scene, turning an unpleasant reveal, bad taste joke or failed stunt into a quick, funny judgment that the audience immediately understands.

Pro tip

Place the buuuue right on the cut to the gross object, not before it, and let the picture linger half a second after. Keep the original audio low underneath and avoid adding music, so the retch stays the punchline.

How people use it

Reacting to a disgusting food reveal in edits.
Punctuating a cringe moment in a meme compilation.
Mocking a friend's terrible cooking in group chats.
Adding nausea to a failed gross-out challenge clip.

More information

The buuuue clip circulates as a short reaction sound on soundboards and in video edits, where its spelling mimics a prolonged retching noise. With no clear original source attached to the upload, it spread through meme use rather than a known film or show. Creators reuse it as a universal shorthand for disgust, similar to a gag or vomit sound effect in cartoon editing. Its brevity helps it slot into fast cuts, TikTok reactions and chat soundboards without explanation, which keeps the simple gross-out joke in regular rotation.

FAQ

What is the buuuue sound?

It is a very short vocal sound effect of someone making a drawn out retching noise. The stretched buuuue imitates gagging in disgust, so viewers instantly read it as a reaction to something gross, sickening or unpleasant.

Where is the buuuue sound from?

No clear original film, show or creator is attached to this upload, so its origin is treated as a soundboard reaction clip. It became popular through reuse in meme edits and short videos as a generic disgust sound.

How do creators use the buuuue sound?

Creators drop it at the exact moment something revolting appears on screen, like bad food, a messy fail or a cringe reveal. Keeping it isolated without music makes the retch act as the punchline and the audience reaction.
