Cheri Cheri Lady was released in 1985 by Modern Talking, the German pop duo of Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders, as the lead single from their album Let's Talk About Love. It became a major hit across Europe and remains their best known song alongside You're My Heart, You're My Soul. Decades later the chorus found a second life online, where short excerpts are reused in edits, remixes and nostalgic posts celebrating 1980s Europop, keeping the distinctive vocal hook recognisable to new audiences.
About this sound
A short clip of the iconic Cheri Cheri Lady chorus from Modern Talking's 1985 synth-pop hit, used in retro edits, memes and nostalgic dance videos.
This clip captures the instantly recognisable opening of the chorus from Cheri Cheri Lady, with Thomas Anders singing the title line over bright synthesisers and a steady dance beat. The melody is smooth, romantic and unmistakably 1980s, built on layered electronic production and a soft, high vocal delivery. At just over two seconds it works as a quick musical sting rather than a full song excerpt. Hearing it immediately signals retro pop nostalgia, playful romance or ironic Europop glamour, making even a short edit feel dramatic, stylish and deliberately over the top.
