About this sound

Jack Black shouting chicken jockey from A Minecraft Movie, the viral line fans repeat for a rare mob reveal, surprise entrances and gaming memes.

This clip captures the shouted announcement of a chicken jockey, delivered with theatrical excitement as if a rare boss had just entered the arena. The voice rises on the second word, turning a simple mob name into a dramatic reveal that feels far bigger than the tiny rider on screen. In Minecraft, a chicken jockey is a baby zombie riding a chicken, an uncommon and chaotic sight that is funny on its own. The over the top delivery makes the moment instantly quotable, so viewers recognise the joke even without seeing the game footage.

Pro tip

Place the shout right as the chicken and rider first appear, cutting to a close up on the word jockey for maximum impact. Keep the game audio low underneath, and avoid adding music that competes with the loud, excited delivery.

How people use it

Drop it when a baby zombie spawns unexpectedly.
Use it for a dramatic pet chicken reveal.
Add it to Minecraft Movie reaction edits online.
Play it when an underdog enters the fight.

More information

The chicken jockey originated in Minecraft as a rare hostile mob, a baby zombie or similar small undead riding a chicken that first appeared in Java Edition in 2013. It stayed a niche joke for players until A Minecraft Movie in 2025, where Steve announces one during a fight scene and the line was delivered like a sporting event. Clips spread quickly on TikTok and YouTube, the shout became a viral meme, and audiences began repeating and cheering it in cinemas and edits.

FAQ

What is a chicken jockey in Minecraft?

A chicken jockey is a rare Minecraft mob made of a baby zombie riding a chicken. The chicken gives it speed and fall resistance, while the rider attacks the player, making the small combination surprisingly fast, chaotic and hard to hit.

Where does the chicken jockey sound come from?

The sound comes from A Minecraft Movie from 2025, where Steve, played by Jack Black, excitedly announces a chicken jockey during a fight scene. His dramatic delivery turned a brief game reference into a widely shared and quoted movie moment.

How do creators use the chicken jockey sound?

Creators place the shout over surprise entrances, rare Minecraft spawns and funny animal reveals. The joke works because the announcement sounds epic while the creature looks tiny and silly, so the contrast makes short gaming edits and reaction videos land instantly.
