About this sound

Iconic sound clip from the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, used in edits for nostalgic reveals, legendary moments and sitcom style storytelling.

This clip captures the instantly recognisable energy of How I Met Your Mother, the sitcom built around Ted Mosby telling his kids the long story of how he met their mother. The sound feels warm, upbeat and a little mischievous, with the familiar tone fans associate with Barney's schemes, Marshall and Lily's sweetness and late night hangouts at MacLaren's Pub. Dropping it into a video immediately signals a story is about to unfold, a legendary plan is coming together, or a friend is about to overshare a dating disaster in dramatic detail.

Pro tip

Place it right before a flashback or a 'let me tell you a story' reveal, then cut hard to the past on the last beat. Pair it with a freeze frame and voiceover, and keep dialogue low underneath so the nostalgic cue lands cleanly.

How people use it

Use for sitcom style flashbacks to awkward dates.
Add to HIMYM fan edits and tribute videos.
